What we Believe

We believe in living out our Christian faith as effectively as possible, making an impact on those who do not know the good news about Jesus Christ.

We believe that the purpose of every church is to share the Good News of Jesus, equip people in their faith journey and enable them live their faith out in the world as part of a loving and supportive community.  That is our aim at New Hope, to be a community who love Jesus, love each other and express love to the wider neighbourhood as we seek to bless and befriend them.

We believe in...
  • The one true God who lives eternally in three persons — the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit.
  • The love, grace and sovereignty of God in creating and redeeming the world.
  • The divine inspiration and supreme authority of the Bible, both Old and New Testament Scriptures, which are the written Word of God - through his words in the Bible we understand his character, his actions throughout history and his call on our lives to live under his discipline and his grace.
  • The dignity of all people, made male and female in God's image to reflect his love, to be holy and given the awesome task of stewarding God's creation.  Yet we are all broken by sin, our sinful human nature and our rebellion against God, we are separated from our heavenly Father by these acts of selfishness and independence we need a Saviour.
  • The incarnation of God’s eternal Son, the Lord Jesus Christ—born of the virgin Mary; truly divine and truly human, yet without sin.
  • The atoning sacrifice of Christ on the cross: dying in our place, paying for our sin with his own blood, taking the brokenness of the world and defeating evil, he has reconciled us with God.
  • The bodily resurrection of Christ, the first fruits of our resurrection; his ascension to the Father, and his reign and mediation as the only Saviour of the world.
  • Salvation, by the grace of God through faith in Christ, is freely available to all who believe.
  • The ministry of God the Holy Spirit, who leads us to repentance, unites us with Christ through new birth, empowers our discipleship and enables our witness.  He is at work in our hearts, minds and spirits to renew our thinking, our understanding, our actions and our priorities, so that we each can become more like Christ.
  • The Church, the body of Christ both local and universal, the priesthood of all believers—given life by the Spirit and endowed with the Spirit's gifts to worship God and proclaim the gospel, promoting justice and love.
  • The personal and visible return of Jesus Christ to fulfil the purposes of God and establish a new heaven and new earth.
